Abstract

The project on music in contemporary circus, with a focus on the Circo Paniko, started in 2018, when the nomadic collective arrived in Cagliari. This research followed the methodology of ethnomusicological field research, using the audiovisual recording and then the writing of an article in order to understand the way in which the company develops their artistic creations - with particular interest on the musical sphere - to investigate the existence of one or more characteristic musical styles and to analyze the performance as a collective and shared event. The latter has been deconstructed through the frame by frame analysis of an aerial dance number on fabrics which was present both in the Cabaret (performed in Cagliari, 2018/2019) and in Panikyuuri (staged in Assemini, 2019/2020).
