Abstract

An 83-year-old man was hospitalized in Sapporo Shirakaba-dai Hospital due to anorexia and dysphagia. On esophagogastroduodenoscopy, an ulcerative and localized type tumor was seen in the cervical and upper esophagus (Fig. 1). After radiological and histological examinations, he was diagnosed with esophageal undifferentiated carcinoma, cT4bN1M0, cStage IVa (UICC 8th). Although he received radiotherapy at Keiyukai-Daini Hospital, he developed an esophagotracheal fistula. He then received the best supportive care and died within less than two months overall.
