Abstract

Benign vascular changes are described as anomalies of blood vessel's development of unknown etiology. Included in this group are vascular malformations, hemangiomas, lymphangiomas and varicositie. Despite usually asymptomatic, the progressive growth of these lesions may lead to local traumatic injuries, causing pain, ulceration and unexpected bleeding. Conventional surgical excision, electrocautery, laser therapy, cryotherapy, embolization and chemistry sclerotherapy are therapeutic options to treat oral hemangiomas. The objective of this paper is to present a clinical case of oral hemangioma that was submitted to sclerotherapy with 5% ethanolamine oleate. The patient remains stable 2 years after the sclerotherapy.
