Abstract

In this study, total of 57 seed samples of bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) from four districts of Erzurum were investigated during September, 1995. The seeds were transferred to potato dextrose agar and fungi were isolated and identified. As a result of this study, eighteen fungi were determined on the seed samples. Of fungi isolated from seeds, Alternaria alternata was found in 50.9% of the samples, Aspergillus spp. in 47.4%, Botrytis cinerea in 3.5%, Cladosporium spp. in 63.2%, Colletotrichum lindemuthianum in 10.5%, Fusarium acuminatum in 1.8%, F.equiseti in 50.9%, F.proliferatum in 3.5%, F.verticillioides in 1.8%, Penicillium spp. in 91.2%, Phoma glomerata in 1.8%, P . medicaginis in 1.8%, Rhizoctonia solani in 12.3%, Rhizopus stolonifer in 96.5%, Stemphylium botryosum in 7.0%, Trichoderma spp. in 5.3%, Trichothecium roseum in 5.3% and Ulocladium atrum in 5.3%. In addition, the infection ratio of seeds was also determined by using three different surface disinfected treatments.
