Abstract

Interpolation with linear combinations of translates of a conditionally positive definite function h are considered. Such interpolants are solutions to a constrained variational problem involving the data and a quadratic form determined by h. In the case where the data is the restriction of an appropriate function f to a subset X in ℝn, pointwise estimates, which are valid in a neighborhood of X, are given on the difference between f and its interpolant.
