Abstract

This paper describes a new error diffusion technique with an ink reduction model to achieve high quality and high resolution (600 dpi and above) ink jet printing. Variable-sized error filters are designed in the ink reduction model to prevent ink overflow on media and also to maintain smooth halftone microstructures without worm-like artifacts. Experimental results are shown to show the effectiveness of the technique.
