Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide ground data for building online support system for teaching practicum by investigating the needs of pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, and teacher educators for kindergarten and elementary school education. Methods To achieve the purpose, a survey was conducted on 531 pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, and teacher educators. Results The results are as follows: First, the participants in this study demanded the content of online support system in the order of ‘instruction methods’, ‘introduction of teaching practicum’, ‘teaching practices’. Second, with regard to the function of online support system, the participants’ demands were high in the order of ‘sharing materials’, ‘providing various type of material’, ‘teaching practicum evaluation’, and ‘communication’. Third, the degree of such demands for some content and function differed according to the participants’ age, status, and teaching practicum experiences. Conclusions The participants in this study were demanding content and functions related to the improvement of educational practice ability as well as efficient management of teaching practicum. Based on these results, several suggestions related to teaching practicum were suggested.
