Abstract
The application of suburethral tapes reflects the current trend and based on available data can be recommended for suitable indications. The transobturator technique seems to have an advantage over the retropubic technique with regard to intraoperative complications. The most frequent postoperative complication in both procedures is caused by too much tension on the tape. Therefore, special attention has to be paid intraoperatively to this risk factor.
