Abstract
Zhang et al1 describe the ethical dilemma associated with penile prosthesis implantation in men with a history of sexual offending. Focused mainly on penile prosthetic implantation, they suggest practical guidelines including a standardized questionnaire to screen for sexual violence and sexual addiction. However, a positive screening does not preclude a patient from surgical management of ED. What they suggest is that sexual counseling and psychiatric evaluation is rather aimed at reducing future risk of sexual violence through the assessment of psychosocial factors associated with the offense.
