Abstract

This study investigates the dynamic softening mechanism of the AA6061 alloy with different Er contents during high-temperature compression. The findings reveal that the increase of Er content can continuously reduce the flow stress of the AA6061 alloy, which was attributed to the enhanced DRV and DRX. The presence of Er induces the precipitation of iron-rich phases that promote the PSN effect, increasing the recrystallization fraction. In addition, the decrease of the fine Mg2Si weakens its pinning effect on the dislocation, which facilitates dislocation motion.
