Abstract
In this conribution we describe the technological process of transparent Er3+:Y2O3 ceramic synthesis, a prospective medium for future laser applications. Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) was used to improve the optical quality of the final product. As the results of our efforts the material with an optical transmission of 0.78-0.80 was obtained, that is close to the theoretical maximum value of 0.83. The main spectral and luminescent properties of the created Er3+:Y2O3 optical ceramics in the spectral range of 1.4-1.65 microns was determined and is reported in this work.
