Abstract

The p-degenerate Blume-Emery-Griffiths (BEG) model, introduced by Vives, Cast\'an, and Lindg\aa{}rd in the context of martensitic transitions, is equivalent to the ordinary BEG model with the crystal field \ensuremath{\Delta} shifted by $\mathrm{kT}\mathrm{ln}p.$
