Abstract
Vapor and liquid equilibrium-phase compositions and refractive indices were determined for the propanecarbonyl sulfide system at 20°, 60°, looo , 140°, and 18OoF from the vapor pressure of propane to the vapor pressure of carbonyl sulfide. Although azeotropic tendencies existed toward the higher concentration range for each component, no azeotrope was found at any temperature up to 18OoF. The equilibrium ratios were calculated for each component at each temperature from the phase composition data. The equilibrium-phase densities were calculated from the measured phase composition and refractive index data by use of the Lorentz-Lorenz molar refractivity relationship.
