Epoxy polymer nanocomposite containing multiwalled carbon nanotubes/nano bagasse and e-glass fibre for stealth applications; mechanical and thermal qualities

Abstract

In this work, epoxy polymer nanocomposites reinforced with E-glass fibre, MCNT, and nano bagasse are hand-layup and their mechanical properties are tested. 3, 5, and 7-layer E-glass nanocomposites are made. MCNT percentages are 1%, 3%, and 5%, while nano bagasse is 0.5. 3 layered nanocomposites with 3% CNT have 352 MPa ultimate tensile strength. Seven-layer nanocomposites with 1% CNT had 132 J of impact strength. Flexural modulus is excellent with 3 layers of pure nanocomposite (no MCNT or nano bagasse). The DSC, DTA, and TGA thermal analyses determine the thermal behaviour of stealth material layered with aluminium foil in last but one layer in both sides of composites.
