Abstract

In this present work, epoxy polymer nanocomposites reinforced with E-glass fiber, multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MCNT), and nano bagasse are prepared by hand layup technique, and their mechanical properties are studied. Nanocomposites with 3, 5, and 7 layers of E-glass are prepared. The weight percentages of MCNT are varied as 1%, 3%, and 5%, while the weight percentage of nano bagasse is fixed at 0.5. A maximum ultimate tensile strength of 352 MPa is observed with 3 layered nanocomposites with 3 wt% CNT. Also, the maximum impact strength of 132 J is found in nanocomposites having seven layers and 1 wt% CNT. With 3 layers of pure nanocomposite (no MCNT and no nano bagasse), the flexural modulus is found to be high. The hardness enhancement is maximum for 7-2 compositons, and the DSC, DTA, and TGA thermal analyses are also performed. to determine its thermal behavior of stealth material layered with aluminum foil.
