Abstract

The epilogue gathers together the argument of this study. It also briefly explores the implications of the book's thesis for our understanding of Origen, the history of biblical interpretation (since so many trajectories were influenced by him), and biblical scholarship as it is practiced and understood today. It acknowledges the dissonance between Origen's vision of biblical scholarship and what often circulates in professional circles today, including among Christians. Yet it concludes with the hope that scholars such as these will wrestle with his central claim that the project of biblical scholarship ought to be located within the Christian drama of salvation.
