Abstract
Docetaxel (DTX) is widely used againstmany kinds of solid tumors such as breast, ovarian, prostate and lung. Inhibitionof microtubular depolymerization and attenuation of the effects of bcl-2 andbcl-xL gene expression are the main mechanisms of its antineoplastic effect.Additionally, taxanes are known to cause proliferation of cytotoxic T-cells,leading to a hypersensitivity type of lung damage, or might cause directpulmonary damage through reactive oxygen metabolites. This study has been investigated theside effects of two different doses of DTX on the lung and heart tissue of rats.
