Abstract
Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Rarely, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) invades the mediastinum, especially the superior vena cava (SVC), where surgery is not usually offered. However, advances in surgery allow for careful selection of candidates who might benefit from it. Nevertheless, no systematic review and meta-analysis has evaluated this treatment strategy's short and long-term outcomes; thus, results remain elusive.
