Abstract

Eosinophilic granuloma is a disease of unknown cause characterized by the formation of a granuloma, containing chiefly eosinophils and histiocytes. The bones are most frequently invalved; but the gastrointestinal tract, lymph nodes, skin, pituitary, kidneys, lungs, and other organs may be affected. In the recent literature, many reports have appeared describing pulmonary eosinophilic granuloma or pulmonary histiocytosis X without demonstrable skeletal or visceral lesions. It is the purpose of this paper to add an additional case in which complete pulmonary function studies have been performed and to review this disease entity.
