Abstract

Enzyme centered biofuel cells became the center of focus for various researchers recently owing to their wide spread applications on several fields. During the current times, experimental research has been widely conducted in applications like biosensor and biofuel cell that contains enzyme electrodes. The interest in developing enzyme modified electrodes for biofuel cells increases rapidly because of the flourishment of healthcare applications that utilizes more number of medical devices for implantation. This review considers the literature on enzymatic electrodes for biofuel cells. Normally nano-carbons are used for manufacturing of enzyme-modified electrodes for biofuel cells owing to their large specific surface area. The stability of these enzyme-modified bio-electrodes becomes an significant parameter in measuring the biofuel cell life time.
