Abstract
ABSTRACT This paper analyses Gen 2:4b–15, emphasizing its relevance to the primary purpose of human creation. The text explains why the earth lacks productivity and plants, attributing it to the absence of rain and lack of someone to till the ground. The creation of human beings is seen as the solution, with a mandate to care for the earth. The article urges humanity to uphold the dignity of labour and protect earth’s integrity, criticizing modern society, particularly Northern Nigeria, for chemical abuse and destructive practices. The study employs qualitative research and an analytical method, and contextualizes the text in contemporary society.
