Abstract
The article is devoted to the main aspects of the use of environmental maps to ensure the ecologization of the educational process in secondary schools. The absence of ecology as an independent discipline in the list of disciplines taught in secondary schools was noted. Various methods of implementing environmental education are considered. Normative documents defining the list of cartographic support used in secondary schools are presented. The influence of distance learning on the approach of teachers to the application of GIS in teaching and control of students' knowledge is characterized. The experience of using the educational and methodical GIS "Living Geography" for these purposes is considered. Three main directions of the use of digital maps and GIS in the educational process of secondary schools have been formulated. The stated need to create cartographic support for secondary schools based on the principles of practice-oriented.
