Abstract
This paper focuses on the causes of urban light pollution, regulations and practices for urban light pollution prevention and control, with special attention to the impacts of light pollution on ecosystems and human health, as well as lighting standards and regulations in different countries and regions. The paper argues that rational urban design and scientific management techniques are the key to combating light pollution, while the preservation of historical features and the mood of ancient cities is also an important aspect of public interest.
