Abstract
This study aims to present the importance of community tourism for the economic and sustainable development of tourism in the municipality of Parintins-AM. To this end, it is based on the theoretical foundations of Leff (2001, 2006 and 2010), Nascimento (2012), OMT (2003), Sachs (2012), Dias (2004), Rivas (2014), Thomas & Callan (2010) and others. The methodology in this work is eminently bibliographical, since it is a literature review, but as a proposal for actions that can be taken to improve community tourism. The suggestions made in this article can serve as a source of research for economists, administrators, tourism experts and other interested parties.
