Abstract
Nous analysons les effets de la certification Forest Stewardship Council sur les communautés forestières au Brésil, en tenant compte des dynamiques sociales et institutionnelles préexistantes. Nos enquêtes montrent que l’adoption de la certification forestière par les petits exploitants peut apparaître plutôt rentable à court terme. Cependant, une mauvaise articulation entre cette régulation privée et les institutions publiques existantes rend ce dispositif difficilement soutenable à long terme.
