Abstract

The enthalpies of mixing of the liquid silver chloride-alkali chloride binary mixtures have been determined by direct liquid-liquid calorimetric measurements at 810 °C (all systems) and at 663 °C (silver-lithium and silver-cesium chloride). The results are compared with data reported in earlier work and with corresponding data for the silver bromide-alkali bromide, silver nitrate-alkali nitrate, and for the binary alkali chloride and bromide systems. The results are discussed and interpreted in terms of the solution theory of Reiss, Katz, and Kleppa as modified by Davis and Rice.
