Abstract
This review paper explores the critical role of Enterprise Architecture (EA) in higher education, focusing on its capacity to bridge the gap between technological advancements and stakeholder goals. It begins by outlining core EA principles, including alignment with institutional mission and vision, flexibility, stakeholder-centric design, security, privacy, and data-driven decision-making. The paper then addresses the significant challenges in implementing EA in higher education, such as organizational complexity, resistance to change, resource constraints, and technology integration issues. The paper proposes several strategies to overcome these challenges, including collaborative governance models, phased implementation approaches, continuous improvement processes, and professional development programs. The implications of adopting EA principles are discussed, highlighting the potential for enhanced efficiency, improved resource allocation, and increased institutional agility. The paper suggests future research directions, particularly in integrating emerging technologies and adapting EA frameworks to evolving educational models. This review underscores the importance of EA as a strategic tool for aligning technology with the goals and needs of higher education institutions.
