Abstract

The article deals with modern changes in the foreign language teaching methods. The author shows how the French language is taught at the Russian School and emphasizes that these changes affect both the content and organization of education. Students should gain systematic knowledge of France, their target-language country and be able to use this knowledge in their speech. In view of this we offer them a course on the French culture and history (Cours de civilisation francaise). Students will also enrich their vocabulary (vocabulaire) and be able to use culturally-charged words (mots a charge culturelle) in their speech.
