Abstract
Decision-making skills play an essential role in 21st-century life. However, facts show that high school pupils in Indonesia have weak decision-making skills because the learning process in the classroom fails to support the development of higher-order thinking skills. The online platform-based RICOSRE is one of the learning models that can increase students’ decision-making skills during online learning. The purpose of this study was to examine differences in high school students’ decision-making skills between RICOSRE students, PBL students, and conventional students who learned via an online platform. Three tenth-grade classes from SMAN 1 Singosari and three tenth-grade classes from SMAN 7 Malang participated in this investigation. RICOSRE was used to facilitate the experimental class, PBL was used to facilitate the positive control class, and conventional learning was used to facilitate the negative control class. This study used a pretest-post-test nonequivalent control group design as a quasi-experiment. The instruments employed in this study consisted of learning tools and essay tests. The research data were gathered in pretest and post-test scores, measured using a decision-making skills rubric. The pretest and the post-test contained ten essay questions. The participants’ test answers were analyzed using ANCOVA, followed by the LSD test. The research findings revealed that the online platform-based RICOSRE had a significant effect on students’ decision-making skills, where the increased score obtained by the RICOSRE group (90.71%) was higher than that achieved by the PBL group (38.06%) or the conventional group (17.39%). This finding indicates that RICOSRE, delivered via an online platform, has the most significant potential for enhancing students’ decision-making skills.
