Abstract
This paper by Siemens VDO and IERSET, Toulouse, France, describes enhancements realised for knock noise acquisition, which were made possible with the introduction of highest capacities microprocessors. The method developed below is based on the improvement of the signal energy calculation within a frequency band. To reduce the computation resources, we use a computation of the DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) at the desired filtering frequency instead of a classical band-pass filter, analogue or digital. We maintain in a same way a good and efficient treatment for its possible application on serial engine.
