Abstract

Library materials have long been vulnerable to misuse, a problem that has persisted over many years. This paper examines how the adoption of electronic surveillance systems (ESS) is influenced by firm size and technological innovation in combating library abuses. Utilizing a quantitative approach, this research employed an online questionnaire to collect data from staff members across four university libraries in Ghana. The findings from multiple linear regression analysis revealed that the implementation of ESS significantly reduces instances of library abuses (p=.000), underscoring its efficacy in addressing this issue. Moreover, the study identifies both the size of the library and technological innovation as significant factors, indicating that their influence on mitigating library abuses varies depending on these variables.
