Abstract
Abstract A theoretical analysis of optical phase conjugation (PC) in four-wave mixing is made for gases in which the driving force is proportional to the gradient of the square of the electric field. The enhancement mechanism for PC in nearly degenerate four- wave mixing (NDFWM) by Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) is treated, inthe present work, by making the analysis for degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) in a flowing fluid, at nearly sonic velocity, and transforming the equations to the fluid frame of reference. The equations derived in the present work give a relation between the frequency shifts of the pump and the probe fields which would give maximal enhancement of PC.
