Abstract

In present era, Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) added composites are used to enhance the mechanical properties which are mostly used in aerospace and defense applications. This paper is about fabrication and testing of four different epoxy matrix laminates. Amine and Carboxylic Functionalized CNTs, un-Treated-Multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and Carbon fiber/epoxy, having variation of 0.5 wt% of multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), which is fabricated by using vacuum bagging Technique with carbon fiber as reinforcement. The composites are tested for flexural and inter-linear shear strength (ILSS) and Tensile as per ASTM standards D790, D2344, and D3039. From the test results and analysis, it is found that Carboxylic Functionalized CNTs added epoxy resin has higher flexural and inter-laminar shear strength (ILSS) when compared with other CNTs and in terms of Tensile strength perspective Amine Functionalized CNTs showed better results.
