Abstract

The effects of inoculation with the plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium Azospirillum brasilense Cd on germination and growth of oak ( Quercus ithaburensis Decaisne) seedlings were investigated in the nursery. An inoculum concentration of 10 7 colony forming units per plant of A. brasilense caused significant increases in seedling root surface area, root dry weight, foliage and shoot dry weight 30 days after inoculation. Inoculation of oak seedlings with A. brasilense is therefore suggested for improving the establishment, growth and development of oak seedlings under nursery conditions.
