Abstract

In this work a new UPFC based cascaded PI-dual controller is proposed for dynamic stability enhancement of wind energy integrated power system for damping low frequency oscillations. The gains of controller are tuned by PSO-GWO optimized technique. The PI controller leads the system to zero steady state error and lead-lag dual controller enhances system stability, so combination of these two controllers has been used here to deal with low frequency oscillation of a wind energy integrated power system. Time domain simulation has been performed with detail eigen value analysis to observe the response of the system for different wind generations to justify the effectiveness of proposed controller. It has been observed that the proposed controller can damp system oscillation much effectively as compared to PSO, GWO optimized PI and lead-lag controllers.
