Abstract

Materials with low weight and good mechanical properties are having vast demand in the present and future of manufacturing industries. Most of the research works are carried for the development of new metal matrix composites which are having higher strength, hardness and wear resistance, etc. when compared with pure monolithic metals. Metal Matrix Composites (MMC) are developed choosing a Matrix metal i.e. Aluminum, Magnesium, Titanium, Copper, etc. and reinforcing materials as Silicon carbide, Alumina, Titanium Carbide, Boron Carbide, Titanium oxide, Fly ash, ceramics, etc. Advancements in material technology led to the development of hybrid composite materials by suitable use of more than one reinforcement material in proper proportions. In this research work, a mental exertion has been made to review physical and mechanical Characterization of Aluminum MMC's which were processed through the stir casting technique, this review will help new research scholars and manufacturing industries in understanding the various mechanical properties of particulate composite materials based on the utilization of reinforcement material.
