Abstract

SYNOPSIS In this communication, an energy balance equation in terms of design and climatic parameters has been written for each component of a regenerative active solar distillation system. An analytical expression for the water and the condensing cover temperatures, the hourly yield and the flowing water temperature has been derived. Numerical computations have been carried out for a typical day in Delhi and it has been inferred that the daily output is increased significantly due to nocturnal production of distilled water.
