Abstract

The effects of sulfur on the thermal stability of gamma vulcanized PBR/NR blends were studied. The samples were dealt with two different processes: the aged ones which were conducted with thermal aging process and the un-aged ones without any further process. The experimental results showed that the crosslink density increased with the irradiation dose increasing and the samples had higher crosslink density after aging process. It inferred that the sulfur could make a further chemical reaction and C-S-C bonds formed during the thermal aging process and increase the thermal stability of gamma vulcanized PBR/NR rubber blends.
