Abstract
The specific heat of the Sc79Fe21 amorphous materials was measured in a temperature range of 150 to 300 K. The specific heat of the Sc79Fe21 nanoglass prepared by consolidation of glassy nanoparticles was approximately 2.5% higher than that of the Sc79Fe21 amorphous melt-spun ribbon. The enhanced specific heat was primarily ascribed to the interfaces within the nanoglass of heterogeneous structure, since both the reduced packing density and interfacial enrichment of the Sc increased the specific heat of the interfaces, while adding Fe to the cores reduced the specific heat.
