Abstract

The specific heat, thermal expansion, and thermal conductivity of Fe78B13Si9 amorphous alloy ribbon have been studied from ambient to below the crystallization temperature. The specific heat is 566 J kg−1 K−6 and the thermal expansion was found to be 5.3 × 10−1 K−1, both at 298 K. The specific heat and thermal expansion data indicates that the material begins to structurally relax at 440 K. The thermal conductivity was observed to increase linearly with temperature with a value of 8.3 W m−1 K−1 at room temperature.
