Abstract

Red emission in LiY1-xMo2O8: xEu3+ is enhanced by substituting Sr2+ in the crystal lattice of LiYMo2O8 and. Influence of cation substitution on the photoluminescence properties of these phosphors are elucidated using powder X-ray diffraction, Raman spectrum and photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra. Long range ordering in the crystal lattice with progressive europium doping and distortion induced by bigger ion substitution are confirmed from Raman spectra.
