Abstract

In view of the shortcomings of single water treatment technology in the control of refractory organic pollutants, the coupling of multiple technologies has become a research focus in this field. In this work, a novel system of Ag3PO4/Fe3O4/GO bifunctional catalysts combining visible-light photocatalytic oxidation (Vis-Photo) and sulfate-based (SO4·−) heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction (SR-Fenton) was devised. The synergistic effect of the catalysts was investigated by controlled experiments of typical refractory pollutant p-chlorophenol (p-CP) degradation. Results showed that the coupled system had a higher degradation efficiency for 100 mg/L p-CP than the Vis-Photo system and the SR-Fenton system. Moreover, the active groups in the coupled system were studied by radical scavenger experiments, and a possible mechanism for the enhanced performance was proposed.
