Abstract

Lead-free Ba1− x Ca x Zr0.1Ti0.9O3 thin films were deposited by sol-gel synthesis route. Dielectric studies demonstrate that the BCZT film for x = 0.15 exhibits a high dielectric constant ε ′∼5838 and a low loss tan δ∼0.070 at 10 kHz. The BCZT thin films exhibited ferroelectric properties with a high saturation and remnant polarization P s∼25.5 μC/cm2 and P r∼13.8 μC/cm2, respectively, and a low coercive field E c∼15.04 kV/cm observed for sample with x = 0.15. The enhanced dielectric and ferroelectric properties at x = 0.15 may be due to its morphotropic phase boundary composition.
