Abstract

In living beings, all characters are controlled by genes, each of which is a segment of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) in a chromosome. Huge numbers of genes are present per chromosome. Thus, many of the genes are linked and they tend to segregate together into the same cell during cell division. To identify association between different characters, it is important in many cases to estimate how far genes are apart in the same chromosome. This is the problem of estimating the linkage proportion or recombination fraction for linked loci. In this paper, we will illustrate how to estimate the linkage between two loci in the same chromosome with the help of LOD (Logarithm of Odds) score for 6 phenotypes
