Abstract

Abstract Eight insecticides were evaluated for aphid control on maturing wheat. The aphid populations at time of treatment, May 23’77, averaged 102/head in Check I and 127/head in Check II. Wheat was harvested two weeks after treatment. Treatment plots were 10 x 10 ft and were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replicates. Sprays were applied with a ‘back-pack’ hand held CO2 pressure sprayer calibrated to deliver 20 gpa at 30 psi. Aphids were sampled on May 26. Ten random wheat head samples were taken from each plot and the number of aphids/head recorded.
