Abstract

During a ten year period devoted to studies and industrial realizations in desaltnation, the authors had the opportunity of comparing different solutions with reference to both process and engineering that play a role in designing MSF plants more in detail. There will be examined the design aspects related with cross tube and long tube geometry and with physical and chemical antiscale treatments (acid polyphosphate polymeric deaeration decarbonation) together with the implications as far as fouling and corrosion are concerned. Further, the engineering aspects of various venting systems are described and analyzed together with the related vacuum plants.
