Abstract

Even though the term obstetric violence is controversial, inadequate practices in childbirth care make necessary to prioritize an approach based on human rights to prevent abuse and violence against women in reproductive health services. Obstetric violence has serious negative repercussions since they compromise the maternal physical and mental health, her affective bond with her baby, and the affective well-being of the latter, as well as, ultimately, their physical, emotional and social development.
