Abstract

Study of the dependences of the intensities of the 0.89 mu m, 2.3 mu m and 2.47 mu m luminescence emission bands in cadmium telluride on the temperature of the sample and the intensity of the exciting radiation suggests an energy transfer process between luminescence centres and permits the positioning of the ground states of the emission bands relative to one another. The location of the ground states of these luminescence centres in the forbidden energy gap near the valence band has been confirmed by the determination of the thermal ionization energies associated with the energy transfer process.
