Abstract
The three-dimensional energy surface of 238U has been calculated by the Strutinsky method using a two-centre single- particle potential whose equipotential surfaces describe various shapes: spheres, ellipsoids of different sizes, the Cassinian ovaloids and other more general asymmetric shapes.
