Abstract

AbstractUsing the Green's function method the charge carrier energy spectrum in a thin film heterostructure is studied taking account of the surface states. The density of states in various parts of the heterostructure is calculated. It is shown that their ratio may vary within large limits. This may lead to the appearance of a negative conductivity in presence of a longitudinal electric field.
